A beacon of Judaism in Sydney's west

A nurturing and supportive educational environment that strives to help every child realise his / her potential in an atmosphere where Judaism is a living and exciting experience and not just another subject.

The B’Nai Yacov School

The B’Nai Yacov School is named after a beloved former Minister of our Congregation, Rabbi Gerald (Yacov) Blaivas.

Rabbi Blaivas came to Australia in the late 1960’s and served the Jewish community of NSW until his untimely passing in 1999 as a Sofer (Scribe) and a Rabbi of the Bankstown, Illawarra and then the Parramatta Communities. He was also an advocate for Jewish children in the Courts of Law.

His dedication to the youth in general and to Jewish Education in particular are legendary and the B’Nai Yacov School community are honoured to have named the School after him.

There could be no greater tribute to the life of Rabbi Gerald Blaivas– our Rabbi, our Teacher and our friend.

Gerald’s Children

At B’Nai Yacov Judaism comes to life.

We have:

· A highly experienced, loving and professional team of educators led by our Principal & Spiritual Leader, Rabbi Yoseph Wernick.

· A well thought out blend of Judaic & General Studies that provides the knowledge base in Judaism required while meeting all the requirements of the NSW Board of Studies.

· An educational program designed to develop students who are independent-thinking, well educated self learners.

· An understanding that all children are different with varying levels of academic & social needs, therefore, an individual learning program is created for each student.
